The OptiDriver (OD) offers dense 10-Gbps transport with more than 80 wavelengths in 10RU. It supports optical technologies including intelligent ROADM networks and 100-Gbps transport.

The design enables the platform to be used for multiple use cases without changing the chassis. Multifunction hardware allows a minimum number of components to serve a variety of applications, including Ethernet, OTN, TDM, Fibre Channel, ESCON/FICON, and Infiniband. The OD supports current and emerging intelligent control-plane technologies like GMPLS and software-defined networking as well as per-port, full-line-rate packet or bitstream generation and checking capability on select modules. This eliminates the need for external test equipment and enables simultaneous testing of 80 or more channels. Additionally, MRV estimates that the OD can save more than 50% in rack space and use 30-60% less power with the OD 10-Gbps transport solution having an overall draw of 900 W or less.
