Sweden's Norrsken deploys Infinera TM-Series for metro 100G
Infinera says that Swedish regional service provider Norrsken has added Infinera TM-Series metro 100-Gbps optical transport platforms to its fiber-optic network.
Norrsken provides Layer 1 wavelength services and Layer 2 Ethernet services to major Internet service providers, carriers, and other customers. The fiber-optic network services provider operates a main route along the coast of Sweden and a redundant route inland along the western border of the country. Overall, it serves 58 towns and cities in 11 counties in the middle and north of Sweden, as well as covering the Stockholm area.
"Upgrading Norrsken's network with the Infinera TM-Series was a natural choice for us," said Björn Jonsson, CEO at Norrsken. "Norrsken already has TM-Series in our network and with the new metro 100G solution, we are now able to also provide 100G services to our customers, providing an even more scalable high capacity network."
Infinera says that Norrsken will use its new TM-Series equipment to create a packet-optical network that supports multiple services. These services include MEF 2.0 certified Ethernet and Optical Transport Network (OTN) aggregation engineered to meet the needs of enterprise, mobile backhaul, wholesale bandwidth, and metro aggregation applications.
Infinera worked with local partner Fiberdata AB in Sweden on the network upgrade.
