Colocation services provider 365 Data Centers and TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) have announced a partnership through which customers in six Tier 2 U.S. cities can enjoy connectivity with data rates as high as 100 Gbps.

The current list of cities for which TSIC has installed 100-Gbps high-speed network connectivity "so far" includes Buffalo, NY; Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN; St Louis, MO; Cleveland, OH; and Indianapolis, IN. 365 Data Center expects to market the colocation/connectivity combination to businesses, carriers, cable MSOs, mobile data operators, and content, cloud, and managed service providers.

"The consumption of video and data via any device, anywhere, is driving the demand for localization of content and increasing edge access speeds. This is in turn rapidly accelerating demand in the formerly under-served, but developing Tier 2 markets that 365 targets," said John Scanlon, CEO of 365 Data Centers. "Partnering with TSIC to connect our clients with one of the world's largest 100-Gbps enabled backbones is an important part of our service and growth strategy in these locations. It's beneficial for our entire ecosystem of service providers."

TSIC has aggressively pursued the deployment of 100G technology in both its European and the U.S. fiber-optic networks (see "TeliaSonera covers Europe and North America with 100G networks"). It currently connects 200 points of presence (PoPs) across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, with 44 of those PoPs in North America. TSIC’s connectivity portfolio includes capacity, Ethernet, international voice, IPX-based services, specialist mobile services, and Internet services.

"We're proud to continue our 100G expansion to meet the increasing demand in the U.S. for rich content and high-speed access," said Ivo Pascucci, regional director and head of Americas sales, at TSIC. "Combining 365's data center services with our ability to rapidly provision high-bandwidth services, means both parties can offer greater end user value to clients."
