MRV’s OptiPacket OP‐X1 is a member of the OptiPacket OP‐X family, a portfolio of metro packet optical edge platforms combining the features and expertise of MRV’s optical and packet product portfolios.

MRV's OptiPacket OP‐X1 is a member of the OptiPacket OP‐X family, a portfolio of metro packet optical edge platforms combining the features and expertise of MRV's optical and packet product portfolios. The OP‐X1 is a highly compact (2RU) access device that provides 100G services for data center and cloud access applications.

The OP‐X1 reuses line cards from OP‐X4, the large chassis model of the family. It has a single service slot for these line cards, which include 4 x 100GbE CFP2, hybrid 10/100GbE, and high‐density 10GbE port line configurations. The system can be installed in multiple deployment scenarios and applications including as a 100GbE access device/NID for offering premium 100G services to data Center tenant or high‐end enterprises.

The OP‐X1 provides innovation in both hardware and software dimensions:

  • Hardware innovations include front‐to‐back ventilation with horizontal card placement and distributed SDN architecture provided by an industry‐standard single board computer (SBC) deployed on the line card.
  • Software innovations ensure that the OP‐X 1 is a solid foundation for the revolution in network design coming with SDN/NFV. The OP‐X1 offers programmability alongside APIs based on OpenFlow and Netconf protocols and is fully integrated into MRV's Pro‐Vision service orchestration and management system, enabling seamless operation in a mixed environment.

Judge's comment: "With its flexible mix of 100G and 10G Ethernet interfaces, coupled with 800G of switching capacity, the OP-X1 enables bandwidth expansion to a wide range of customers."
