Polychromix announces general availability of the Dynamic Channel Orchestrator
Feb. 24, 2004
February 24, 2004 Los Angeles -- Polychromix Inc., developer of advanced wavelength management solutions for optical networking, has announced general availability of its Polychromix Dynamic Channel Orchestrator (P-DCO) platform. The P-DCO-10050AB leverages the company's micro-diffraction grating technology for stable, on-demand remote configuration of optical networks, reducing wavelength provisioning and management time from months to minutes. Currently shipping to tier-one system house customers, the P-DCO-10050AB lets carriers generate additional profit from their existing infrastructure while seamlessly migrating to future networks without the need for an architecture redesign. The P-DCO-10050AB provides an integrated power management solution that provides attenuation, equalization, and blocking of any combination of up to 100 WDM channels. Its small form factor fits on existing line cards and can be configured as a Dynamic Gain Equalizer (DGE), a Dynamic Channel Equalizer (DCE), or as an integrated Wavelength Attenuator Blocker for creating reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) architectures. The combination of the company's patented micro-diffraction grating technology and unique optical design provides further flexibility, making the P-DCO the ideal solution for typical metro- and long-haul networks channel plans (50/100GHz)."The P-DCO product family constitutes an essential tool for the development of dynamically reconfigurable networks and consequently enables our customers to address many of the inefficiencies in managing today's WDM systems," explains Mouli Ramani, vice president of marketing and business development at Polychromix. "Furthermore, by basing multiple products on a single platform, Polychromix enjoys industry-leading cost efficiencies," he adds. "These cost savings can then be passed to our customers."Polychromix (Wilmington, MA) is currently accepting additional purchase orders for the P-DCO and will be conducting a live demonstration of its product family at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exposition (OFC), February 24-26 in Los Angeles, CA.
The P-DCO can be configured as a dynamic gain equalizer, a dynamic channel equalizer, or as an integrated wavelength attenuator blocker for creating ROADM architectures.
