Cablecom serves 1.5 million customers via its own network and another 0.5 million via partner networks in Switzerland, making it the largest cable-TV operator in the country. The company is investing heavily in expanding its network to enable its customers to surf the Internet, send e-mails, talk on the phone, watch television, enjoy feature films at home, and exchange large amounts of data at high speed.

Transmode is will provide Cablecom with its System 1100 WDM systems. TRIGON AG, Transmode's value-added reseller (VAR) in Switzerland, will provide product support and training and act as service partner for Cablecom.

"The addition to that list of a quality customer like Cablecom from the operator segment is of course a very important one. We are honored to be an approved vendor of Cablecom, and we are determined to continue to beat their expectations," says Frank Segers, Transmode's vice president of channel sales.

According to Walter Bichsel, manager data platform of Cablecom, "The Transmode system is very easy and flexible both in planning and in use.
