17 JUNE 2009 -- Transmode has announced the deployment of an optical network for Taiwan Fixed Network (TFN). The network is based on Transmode's Intelligent WDM (iWDM) platforms.

TFN, a national telecommunications carrier and part of Taiwan Mobile Co. (TWN), has deployed Transmode's TM-Series iWDM optical networking platform to enable the delivery of reliable, high-capacity transport services in its national optical network infrastructure that is used for fixed as well as for mobile traffic. The network operator had identified the need to expand their existing infrastructure and sought a company whose products were flexible, easy to implement and cost effective.

"TFN/TWM is happy with the systems supplied by Transmode/Opnet, which have improved our connectivity and operations," said Dallar Hung, principal engineer, System Design Division, Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd.

TFN chose Transmode's TM-Series platform after rigorous testing where flexibility was the key selection criterion, according to the systems vendor. TFN's network team worked with Transmode and Opnet Technologies, a local specialist in access networks, to roll out the network.

Taiwan Fixed Network was founded in 2000 as a private network operator and is an international carrier of telecommunications traffic. It has built its own high-capacity transmissions backbone network that provides international/domestic long-distance/local voice and data transmissions, along with other value-added multi-media services based in Taiwan. It also acts as a hub for Asia for international telecommunications.
