Deltacom expands wavelength services availability

JANUARY 5, 2008 -- ITC DeltaCom says it has completed its network upgrade a month ahead of schedule; the company has deployed Infinera's DTN optical equipment to deliver Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5-Gbps, and 10-Gbps wavelength services across a number of markets in the Southeast.

JANUARY 5, 2008 -- ITC DeltaCom Inc. (search for ), provider of integrated communications services to customers in the southeastern United States, today announced the completion of its Infinera (search for Infinera) DTN optical network systems deployment. The DTN deployment extends Deltacom's high-capacity Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 2.5-Gbps, and 10-Gbps wavelength services availability to a number of new markets across the Southeast.

GbE, 2.5-Gbps, and 10-Gbps wavelength services are now available in the following new markets: Wilsonville and Mobile, AL; Savannah, Augusta, and two additional carrier hotels in Atlanta, GA; Lake City, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Ocala, Archer, and Pensacola, FL; Columbia and Greenville, SC; and Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, NC. Deltacom expects to complete the deployment of additional SONET equipment and to build out a number of metro markets by mid-year 2009.

"We were able to complete the DTN deployment a month earlier than originally planned," reports Tony Tomae, Deltacom's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "This rapid system deployment is a great indicator of the speed and scalability in which we can deliver GbE and wavelength services to our Interstate FiberNet carrier customers and to our multi-site business customers across the Southeast," he says.
