JUNE 16, 2008 -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (search for AMCC), which provides optical transport, embedded power architecture processing, and storage devices, announced today that BTI Systems (search for BTI Systems), a global supplier of packet optical edge products for the delivery of gigabit services, has selected AMCC's advanced transport portfolio for next-generation Carrier Ethernet WDM solutions.
AMCC's transport products were chosen as part of the BTI 7000 Series, designed to address the increasing demand for multiple services, greater transport capacity, dynamic networking, and management simplicity right at the network optical edge. Integrating both advanced wavelength and packet-oriented functionality, AMCC says the BTI 7000 Series delivers unique edge services flexibility in a compact, low-power-consumption, easy-to-use packet optical network system.
"The demand for micro WDM solutions that deliver high-bandwidth Internet services continues to grow rapidly and it is crucial that BTI continue to set the leadership pace at the optical edge," says Jean-Charles Fahmy, vice president of product management, BTI Systems. "Partnering with AMCC enables us to accelerate our production cycle."
"We are pleased to have our transport product portfolio endorsed and selected by BTI Systems for their advanced WDM systems," says Neal Neslusan, director of marketing at AMCC. "Customer wins of this nature validate the leadership position of AMCC's technology to enable cost-effective telecom solutions at 10G and the convergence to OTN."
