Movaz Networks Inc. announced the successful completion of two alpha trials -- one conducted at a customer lab and one conducted "live" between two central office facilities. With the availability of the alpha equipment, Movaz is introducing a new optical connectivity product line for access, metro and regional service providers, under the portfolio trademark of RAY.

The RAY product portfolio contains three interoperable products to provide integrated wavelength transport, switching and management capabilities at unprecedented price points. The RAYexpress is a 5.5-inch (15 cm) high Optical Add Drop Multiplexer ideally suited for customer premise applications. The RAYstar combines optical transport and wavelength routing functions in a single seven-foot bay for deployments in edge, core and hub central offices. The RAYtracer is a network management system that provides a Graphical User Interface for simplified point and click wavelength provisioning.

With these features, the RAY product portfolio will create intelligent wavelength delivery systems to promote dynamic bandwidth allocations and new services, such as optical virtual private networks.

With a team of engineering, sales and business professionals now exceeding 250, Movaz is gearing up for volume production and ramping operations in other key areas. Movaz is aggressively expanding its sales presence across the globe. In recent weeks, Movaz has added sales offices in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, and London with additional locations to be announced in the next three months. With equipment now in trials, Movaz's Customer Service organization is growing rapidly and recruiting technical support personnel.

At SuperComm 2001 (booth 4864), June 5-7, Movaz will present technical sessions on these four topics:

(1) Managed Wavelengths with MPlambdaS Control Plane

(2) The New Optical Network Economics

(3) Deploying the New Optical Network Technologies

(4) Photonic Switching Utilizing 3D MEMS Technology.
