Arroyo Optics announces Interleaver product family

March 15, 2001
Mar. 15, 2001--Arroyo Optics, a manufacturer of components for fiber optic communications, announced the availability of a complete family of Interleaver products for use in DWDM transmission systems.

Arroyo Optics, a manufacturer of components for fiber optic communications, announced the availability of a complete family of Interleaver products for use in DWDM transmission systems. The MultiFilter product line includes the MF12.5 (12.5 GHz), MF25 (25 GHz), MF50 (50 GHz), and MF100 (100 GHz) models. Model MF12.5 is available now in sample quantities, while the other models are available in production quantities.

Arroyo Optics will demonstrate the entire Interleaver Product Family at OFC 2001, March 19-21, Anaheim (CA) Convention Center, Booth #2778.

Every Interleaver Family Member features:

* Passive Operation

* No Temperature Control Required

* Low Insertion Loss

* Flat/Wide Passbands

* Low Crosstalk/High Isolation Between Even and Odd Channels

* No Chromatic Dispersion Per Mux/Demux Pair

Ultrahigh capacity fiber optic networks utilizing dense wavelength division multiplexing are moving to increasingly dense channel spacings to provide the bandwidth demanded by carriers. Some of the key optical components enabling this evolution from 200 and 100 GHz channel spacings to 50, 25, and even 12.5 GHz channel spacings are Interleavers. Interleavers are filters that separate a stream of data channels into two separate and independent streams of channels at wider spacings. Once the channels are separated into this coarse spacing, present day demultiplexing technology can be applied.

The MF50 MultiFilter Interleaver, for example, splits an 80-channel DWDM data stream with 50 GHz spacing into two 40-channel streams with 100 GHz spacing. One fiber contains the odd channels, while the other contains the even channels.

The MF50 MultiFilter when used in conjunction with Arroyo Optics' FiberFilter products, enables scalable, dense wavelength spacing and ultra-low insertion loss DWDM filtering.

MF50 MultiFilter modules are assembled using proprietary packaging techniques. No external temperature control is required. The MF50 is suitable for OC-48 and OC-192 systems.
