Emerging French telecommunications service provider KOSC Telecom will deploy the ADVA FSP 3000 in its nationwide DWDM fiber optic network, the systems house says. The fiber network will leverage the ADVA platform in both metro and long-haul networks to support 100-Gbps wholesale bandwidth services.

KOSC is a new service provider focused on wholesale services provision. Led by CEO Antoine Fournier, the operator is backed by a consortium that includes investors Yann de Prince and Boris Clausse, cloud service provider OVH (see "Hosting services provider OVH adds DWDM capacity to fiber network"), Bpifrance, and other French financial partners.

The operator's new network will include metro fiber connectivity in such major French cities as Paris and Marseille as well as in such mid-sized cities as Annecy and La Rochelle. KOSC plans to connect 180 cities across France via a national network of 20,000 km. The service provider expects to make bandwidth available by the end of this year.

"We're bringing a new level of flexibility and efficiency to the wholesale connectivity market. That's why it's essential to have a technology partner we can trust. ADVA Optical Networking's team has supported and worked with us at every stage to create our ideal solution," said Fournier. "We knew we wanted phenomenal capacity and always-on dependability. Our other essential requirement was scalability. As French businesses harness more cloud-based services and virtual reality applications, and as the industrial internet of things continues to develop, demand for reliable, super-fast broadband will only accelerate. That's why we've invested in a network that can grow and we've already discussed the potential to deploy the 400-Gbps capabilities of ADVA Optical Networking's FSP 3000 CloudConnect solution in the future."

"The people behind KOSC Telecom share many of our core values. At every level, they have a clear vision of what customers need and a bold strategy for delivering it," commented Fabrice Jean, vice president, North and Southwest Europe sales at ADVA Optical Networking. "By working closely with their engineers, we've been able to create a network tailor-made to their customers' needs. Now service providers will be able to deliver even more in France by accessing cost-effective, super-fast, and incredibly reliable wholesale broadband."
