Kazakhstan's Transtelecom deploys 100G DWDM with Ekinops
Kazakhstan service provider Transtelecom JSC has upgraded its national fiber-optic network, which runs to the border of China, with 100G DWDM capabilities based on optical transport gear from Ekinops. The Transtelecom infrastructure is part of a larger network that connects China and Western Europe.
Transtelecom's operates more than 13,000 km of fiber-optic cable, installed primarily along railroad lines throughout Kazakhstan. The service provider sought low-latency capabilities that minimized regeneration points, Ekinops says. Transtelecom awarded the contract to Ekinops in competition with other vendors based on technical capabilities, price, and product reliability, the systems vendor asserts.
"Ekinops promised quick deployment – and delivered. This is not trivial as the environment was quite challenging across long distances and extreme weather conditions," said Saken Baituganov, executive commerce director of Transtelecom. "The network is now live and carrying customer traffic and our customers are very happy."
"Vast amounts of data are being transported from China to the West and we are very proud to help Transtelecom in this project," said Francois Xavier Ollivier, COO of Ekinops. "The expected growth in capacity in that region is very large and our scalable platform is fully designed to support this growth."
