XKL LLC has expanded its line of enterprise fiber-optic network platforms with DarkStar DST Optical Networking System and the DST10-10. The plug-and-play optical transport platform increases fiber-optic network bandwidth by unlocking unused WDM channels. It can support a total capacity of 100G per 1RU via 10 wavelengths of 10G.

"Our latest product innovation fits anyplace a Layer 1 transport core is already in use and increases bandwidth to the network either by creating new spurs off the core or interoperating with existing optical transport equipment and filling in channels that are not efficiently used," explained Chad Lamb, XKL's director of engineering.

The DarkStar DST10-10 Capacity Extender enables plug-and-play expansion of network capacity to up to 96 channels. This includes the ability to seamlessly add channels to existing systems with full chassis, XKL asserts. The CLI is designed to look and feel like existing networking equipment and is optimized for network administrators to operate and manage. Power consumption is 70 W per 1RU system.
