The CSA component spectrum analyzer fully characterizes the polarization dependency of polarization-sensitive optical devices and allows the very rapid extraction of the spectra corresponding to the TE- and TM-incident Stokes vectors from a fast matrix PDL measurement, without the need for manual calibrations. The analyzer takes advantage of the Mueller Matrix calculations to extract TE and TM information on the fly. Full wavelength dependence of the TE and TM state are displayed in conjunction with the insertion loss and PDL profiles. Polarization dependence of the bandwidth and center wavelength is also displayed automatically. The new technique is especially suited for testing planar optical devices such as AWG multiplexers, ROADMs, wavelength switches, planar splitters, and WDMs. Already being used for both die and fully packaged fiber attached devices, the technology can be applied to either four-state or the higher-accuracy six-state matrix PDL measurement.

For speeding delivery of IPTV services and business class Ethernet over the same infrastructure, the HSX 6000 Layer 2.5 central office-based aggregation platform provides a combination of high density for Gigabit Ethernet aggregation, complete service interworking of Ethernet with legacy corporate data services, and granular QoS that ensures service guarantees for real time and non-real time services ownership. It supports GFP so service providers with large SONET/SDH networks can efficiently extend those networks to offer new business and residential services like GPON and IPTV. A 10-port GbE module provides aggregation of an IPTV network’s key elements such as Ethernet-based IP-DSLAMs, allowing a total capacity of 960 GbE ports within a telco rack. Granular QoS provides efficient grooming of individual customer data flows and mapping to Layer 3 service attributes, scalable to over one million flows per system. The platform also includes seamless bandwidth expansion and link protection via the IEEE 802.3ad standard and support for IEEE 802.1Q (VLAN tagging) and Q-in-Q (VLAN stacking) to facilitate scalable Ethernet aggregation. It offers Ethernet over DS-3 and SONET, supporting both GFP and X.86, virtual concatenation, and interworking between GFP and X.86.

For FTTH deployment, the Converteon protocol-agnostic managed media-converter system facilitates the transport of telecom traffic such as E1/T1, serial communications such as RS-232, and traditional Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet from a single platform. Wide-reaching corporate networks can terminate multiple transport services at a single point, reducing management overhead. The system consists of two chassis platforms. The 18-slot CV5000 platform is designed for deployment at the center of a star topology network, where it connects over fiber to other devices; the 2-RU chassis accommodates 18 modular blades. The CV1000 single-slot platform for use in remote locations can be populated with a single media blade. Both chassis use the same media blades to reduce inventory holdings and simplify service and installations.

Optimized for use in WDM components in FTTH initiatives to bring triple play services to residential customers, the 1310B-HP and 1550B-HP Telcordia-qualified singlemode fibers support integrated Internet, telephone, and video services across the 1310-, 1490-, and 1550-nm wavelengths. The 1310B-HP fiber has reduced bend loss sensitivity versus standard SMF, and 1550B-HP fiber offers excellent optical bending performance in the 1550-nm window where standard SMFs tend to suffer high bend loss. Both fibers maintain low coupling loss to industry-standard fibers, which is achieved through careful waveguide design. They are proof-tested to 200 kpsi to ensure a high degree of reliability and manufactured with high tolerances on the main optical and geometrical parameters.

For X2 form factors, the LX4 highly integrated SFF transceivers are capable of transmissions beyond 300 m of legacy multimode fiber, as defined in the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBase-LX4 standard. Containing direct-modulated uncooled DFB lasers, they support Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches used in premises legacy (62.5-µm) MMF applications, including vertical risers and building-to-building campus links. The transceiver transmits data over four wavelengths-1275, 1300, 1325, and 1350 nm-by optically combining the outputs onto a singlemode fiber so it’s fully 802.3ae-compliant. The singlemode multiplexer and multimode demultiplexer operate at the typical LX4 center wavelengths with a spacing of 24.5 nm.

An adhesive, sealant, and coating all in one, the UV15-7SP4 non-yellowing,optically clear, toughened UV-curable polymer system exhibits a desirable fast curing rate at ambient temperatures even at section thicknesses greater than 1/16 inch. Typical cure times range from as little as 5-10 sec to 2-3 minutes at room temperatures, depending on the type of UV lamp used. It is 100% reactive, does not contain any solvents or other volatiles, and features low shrinkage upon cure, excellent adhesion to various substrates, and durability. The easy to apply compound has low viscosity and does not embrittle even upon exposure to low service temperatures. It has storage stability that exceeds three months at 75°F. Available in half-pint, pint, quart, gallon, and 5-gal containers, it also comes in syringe applicators.
