Viaero rolls out IP and DWDM systems from Ribbon

The deployments will see the Fort Morgan, CO, based service provider upgrade its mobile network support infrastructure from microwave and leased services to an IP and DWDM architecture.

Ribbon Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: RBBN) says that Viaero Wireless and Viaero Fiber Networks will deploy the technology provider’s Neptune and Apollo systems as well as Muse domain controller. The deployments will see the Fort Morgan, CO, based service provider upgrade its mobile network support infrastructure from microwave and leased services to an IP and DWDM architecture.

Use of the Neptune platform will enable MPLS transport, while the Apollo systems will meet Viaero’s DWDM requirements. Together with the Muse platform, they support gigabit and 10G aggregation over 200G optical transport, scalable to 400G. The systems also enable provide network performance monitoring, analytics, fiber monitoring via an automated OTDR, and service level agreement (SLA) management.

Besides meeting its own needs, Viaero will be able to offer mobile backhaul services to other MNOs. “We are committed to delivering reliable, affordable services that keep our customers connected regardless of where they are within the world,” said Ron Christensen, president of Viaero Fiber Networks. “Enhancing our fiber transport with Ribbon allows us to dramatically increase our network capacity and expand our offerings and services. Ribbon was the clear choice for this upgrade and will provide Layer 1 through Layer 3 transport along with a single network management solution.”
