Handy Networks deploys 100G open line system from Smartoptics
Smartoptics, a leading provider of optical networking solutions, announced today that Denver-based Handy Networks has chosen to upgrade its data center network with 100G open line systems from Smartoptics, according to the systems vendor. Handy Networks will use the Smartoptics DCP-M for the task.
Handy Networks is a managed IT services provider that serves more than 450 clients throughout more than 40 countries, including the U.S. The company offers such infrastructure-as-a-service products as colocation, hosting, and managed security services. With customer needs evolving, Handy Networks decided it required the flexibility that the DCP-M40 open line system can provide, Smartoptics asserts. That includes a pathway to 400G capabilities.
“Our previous solution was costing us precious time and money to maintain, such as having to manually piecemeal together erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) at certain locations. The Smartoptics open line system is great value for us because it is very easy to set up and maintain while simplifying future capacity upgrades. This promise of hundreds of gigs of capacity down the road is already helping us on the sales side.
