CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM) says it has collaborated with test and measurement specialists Fluke Networks to optimize fiber-optic cabling performance. CommScope's SYSTIMAX link loss calculator will be integrated into Fluke Networks' Certifiber Pro optical loss test set and LinkWare Live cloud service.

The CommScope SYSTIMAX calculator is a tool that computes total link loss performance for SYSTIMAX low and ultra-low loss systems. Performance targets determined by the proprietary test requirements surpass the industry standards, delivering support for high-speed data network applications and architectures, the company says.

Fluke Networks' Certifiber Pro optical loss test set is part of the company's Versiv Cabling Certification System, says CommScope. Integrating the SYSTIMAX link loss calculator with Fluke Network's Versiv will offer automated performance for warranty certification for both single-mode and multimode fiber systems in data centers. Fluke Networks introduced the Versiv line in 2013 to streamline and improve the cable certification process with the Versiv Cable Certification Tester family (see "Fluke Networks Versiv family simplifies cable certification").

Featuring a 3-second two-fiber/two-wavelength test, the Certifiber Pro streamlines set-up, eliminates errors, and accelerates troubleshooting, thus enhancing the efficiency of fiber-optic certification. CommScope says the modular design supports optical time-domain reflectometry, fiber end-face inspection, and copper certification modules as well. Meanwhile, project managers can efficiently configure and track multiple testers and projects from their office and minimize the chance of setup errors with Fluke Networks' LinkWare Live cloud service for cable certification projects.

"Our research has shown that eliminating errors in the certification process leads to significant savings for cabling contractors," said Eric Conley, Fluke Networks vice president and general manager. "By building the calculator into Versiv and LinkWare Live, customers can reduce complexity and ensure that certification is done right the first time."

Both Fluke Networks and CommScope will detail the integration at several interactive seminars and workshops at the BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition 2018 in Orlando, FL, from February 4-8. Attendees can visit Fluke Networks at booth #309, and CommScope at booth #637.
