CIENA Corp. (Linthicum, MD) announced that prior to the carrier`s reorganization, Hermes Europe Railtel (HER--Brussels) extended its existing relationship with CIENA as the supplier of DWDM optical networking products for GTS Carrier Services` pan-European network build through April 2000. In two other announcements, Telemonde Ltd. (London), and Crosswave Communications Inc. (Tokyo) also agreed to purchase CIENA equipment. Telemonde awarded CIENA a three-year contract for the company`s 96-channel DWDM platform for use in its TITAN pan-European Network. Meanwhile, Crosswave selected CIENA`s MultiWave Sentry 4000 DWDM products for its new optical networking infrastructure to deploy in Crosswave`s nationwide optical network in Japan.
