May 19, 2004 Tampere, Finland -- Modulight Inc. has unveiled two new laser products for Cable Television (CATV) and other applications requiring analog transmission of signals in optical fiber.

The ML-COAX-1310-FP-AL-3 is a coaxial fiber pigtail module with a 1310-nm MQW Fabry-Pérot (FP) diode laser based on a proprietary MOCVD- and MBE-grown epitaxial structure. The laser operates with 3-mW out-of-fiber optical power with 40-mA typical forward current. The device is available with and without an isolator. With the isolator, minimum optical isolation is better than 30 dB.

The second product, the ML-COAX-1310-DFB-AL-3, is a coaxial fiber pigtail module with a 1310-nm Distributed Feedback (DFB) diode laser composed on equally robust MQW core design, which results in reliable and high performance operation over the lifecycle of the product, say company representatives. The device has a minimum Side Mode Suppression Ration (SMSR) of 35 dB and typical wavelength temperature coefficient of 0.08-nm/ &$176 C. At 40-mA input current, the device has a typical optical output power of 3 mW, similar to its FP counterpart.

Both products are available immediately in production quantities for shipments worldwide. Since early this year Modulight has shipped sampling quantities to several beta customers.
