SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 -- Time Warner Telecom Inc. (search Time Warner Telecom) today announced the completion of its 480-mile fiber ring in the Bay Area. The fully redundant DWDM SONET protected fiber ring extends service from San Francisco, the East Bay, and Walnut Creek to the Silicon Valley cities of Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Sunnyvale.
Time Warner Telecom operates and maintains a national fiber network infrastructure and a 10-Gbit/sec IP backbone that delivers what it claims are state-of-the-art Ethernet-based communications services and converged voice and data services to enterprise and carrier customers across the U.S.
"This recent addition to our ring in the Bay Area creates the region's most robust and flexible conduit for delivering data and voice communications services," contends Sonja Williams, sales director for Time Warner Telecom in San Francisco. "Our products and services, along with this 480-mile fiber ring, offer converged communications solutions to the most technically advanced and entrepreneurial businesses in the country."
Time Warner Telecom's fiber network infrastructure enables the company to deliver fully meshed Ethernet services within cities and between cities. The Equinix Internet Business Exchange (IBX) data center and Switch and Data's PAIX data center now have fully redundant and dual-path access to Time Warner Telecom's nationwide network.
