Hibernia Atlantic chooses 3Com's H3C technology to deliver enhanced Ethernet services
DECEMBER 17, 2009 -- Hibernia Atlantic, a transatlantic high-bandwidth connectivity provider, has selected 3Com's H3C S7500E modular switches to deliver Ethernet services across its transatlantic submarine cable network. Hibernia Atlantic owns and operates a fast, direct connection between North America and the U.K., Ireland, and mainland Europe.
By adding H3C S7500E switches across its network, Hibernia Atlantic says it will offer more cost-efficient, Ethernet-based services from multiple 1-Mbps commitments to 10 Gbps.
"For quite some time, we have been actively researching our options for rolling out Ethernet-based MPLS services across our network," states Derek Bullock, vice president of network operations, Hibernia Atlantic. "We tested a variety of solutions from multiple vendors before choosing H3C S7500E MPLS switches from 3Com. H3C switches differentiate themselves in terms of price, performance, and expandability. They also have excellent global and local support and services."
"Our H3C networking solutions lead the industry in terms of technology and cost efficiency," says Ron Sege, president and chief operating officer of 3Com. "They offer large enterprises, ISPs, and connectivity providers such as Hibernia a new level of energy efficiency and total cost of ownership without compromising network performance. This is a key win for us in the carrier market and will open the door to many similar deployments."
Hibernia Atlantic's transatlantic and terrestrial network provides European and U.S. customers with high-bandwidth connectivity. Hibernia's network footprint avoids traditional, congested waterways, such as those around New York City and London, and offers security through diversity, according to the provider. The company offers dedicated Ethernet and optical level service up to Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 10GbE, and LAN PHY wavelengths and traditional SONET/SDH services.
