JUNE 4, 2008 -- At SCTE's 2008 Cable-Tec Expo, to be held in Philadelphia from June 25-27, Aurora Networks (search for Aurora Networks) will demonstrate a portfolio of optical products designed to help cable operators stay ahead of the competition.
Â
The company says its key demonstrations include:
Â
• LcWDM, DWDM, and D2WDM node segmentation devices, which enable cable operators to quadruple plant bandwidth without the need for fiber construction while simultaneously supporting fast, targeted deployments.
Â
• VHub virtual hub technology, which eliminates the need for a hub site, lowers deployment costs, and supports 24 service groups with as few as three fibers.
Â
• Fiber Deep technology, which provides up to 10x increase in narrowcast bandwidth per home, reduces operating costs by 65%, lowers power costs by 50%, and provides 99.995% network availability.
Â
• Next-generation access equipment, including BitCoax, a new concept to exploit coax above 1 GHz; Fiber on Demand to serve high-bandwidth users; FTTP VHub to efficiently service new build areas with fiber-based offerings; and Node PON to enable GEPON from the node, creating a smooth migration to FTTP.
Â
• Commercial services offerings, which support delivery of 100 Mbits/sec, 1,000 Mbits/sec, and T1/E1 applications to generate revenue from small- to medium-sized enterprises.
Â
"Aurora Networks offers a rich array of products, designed specifically for cable operators to help them win the battle for subscribers," contends John Dahlquist, Aurora's vice president of marketing. "Our optical networking solutions enable cable operators to deliver an array of revenue-generating services for bandwidth-hungry commercial and residential customers."
