JDSU Introduces Market's Highest-Accuracy Jitter/Wander Field Test Solution

Jan. 7, 2008
June 18, 2007 JDSU today introduced the most accurate field solution on the market for measuring 2.5/2.7G SONET/SDH jitter. Available as a complement to existing T-BERD/MTS-8000 Transport modules, the jitter/wander module is engineered to address the bandwidth demands being placed on metro networks by the deployment of triple-play services. The 2.5/2.7G SONET/SDH jitter module will be introduced this week at NXTComm 2007 in Chicago and SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando.

Milpitas, California, June 18, 2007 JDSU today introduced the most accurate field solution on the market for measuring 2.5/2.7G SONET/SDH jitter. Available as a complement to existing T-BERD/MTS-8000 Transport modules, the jitter/wander module is engineered to address the bandwidth demands being placed on metro networks by the deployment of triple-play services. The 2.5/2.7G SONET/SDH jitter module will be introduced this week at NXTComm 2007 in Chicago, June 18-21 (booth 5315) and SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando, June 19-22 (booth 1286).

The 2.5/2.7G jitter/wander module for the T-BERD/MTS-8000 supports the production needs of network equipment manufacturers as well as the installation and operations requirements of service providers, including cable and wireless operators installing and maintaining carrier-grade Ethernet networks.

Carrier-grade Metro Ethernet networks are emerging as key components in delivery of next-generation Ethernet-based business and consumer services (such as triple-play). Jitter and wander are disturbances in a high-speed network that affect reliability and service performance.

"Accurate jitter and wander measurement is a key challenge in the design and deployment of high-bandwidth next-generation networks," said Jerry Gentile, general manager of JDSU's telecommunication field services (TFS) Test and Measurement group. "This addition to the T-BERD/MTS-8000 furthers our commitment to providing the industry's most complete next-generation network field tester, helping our customers provide the most reliable networks possible for the delivery of voice, video and data services."

JDSU's 2.5/2.7G jitter/wander solution is compliant to ITU-T O.172/O.173 and provides the full set of jitter measurement capabilities jitter generation, automatic jitter tolerance, and automatic jitter transfer, which help during the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of SDH/SONET/OTN systems.

About the JDSU T-BERD/MTS-8000
Combining multiple test capabilities with unprecedented levels of field modularity, JDSU's T-BERD/MTS-8000 is a scalable field platform for installing and maintaining short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, Metro, CWDM, transport, data and DWDM networks. Advanced modularity enables the T-BERD/MTS-8000 to integrate options for video microscope, VFL, light source, power meter, and optical talk set with application modules for SONET, SDH, Ethernet, multi-mode and single mode OTDRs, PMD, spectral attenuation, CD, WDM, and single-port and dual-port OSA. Compatibility with more than 10,000 field-proven units already deployed worldwide by every major telecommunications network operator enables easy migration to new network technologies while continuing to reduce expenses.
