LYNX Network Group to deploy Cyan packet-optical transport gear, services for Michigan fiber network
Cyan says that Michigan-based wholesale and business network services provider Lynx Network Group (LYNX) will deploy the Cyan Z-Series of packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTPs), Cyan 360 software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite, and Cyan PRO professional services in a statewide fiber network in Michigan. LYNX plans to use the network to provide Ethernet services to businesses, government facilities, cell towers, and wholesale customers throughout Michigan.
The Cyan 360 package will include Cyan’s recently announced CyNOC network operations service, through which LYNX will outsource network operations functions to Cyan. Frank Wiener, vice president of marketing at Cyan, says the service has proven very popular, with approximately 40% of Cyan’s total customer base and 60% of new customers opting for the service since its launch (see "Cyan CyNOC Services offer NOC backup, outsource opportunity").
In addition to CyNOC, LYNX will use CyPlan, Cyan’s network planning and provisioning tool, and CyPortal multi-layer SLA assurance and verification service. The latter will enable LYNX customers to examine their individual service connections in real time.
When completed, the network will support delivery of native Ethernet services at speeds up to 10 Gbps. LYNX will also offer wholesale wavelength and Layer 2 services to service providers and wireless operators. In addition to the Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms, LYNX also will deploy Ethernet NIDs from Accedian. Both the P-OTS and NID units will be managed by Cyan’s CyNMS network management system.
Said Christopher J. Barber, co-owner of LYNX, “This state-of-the-art network is capable of delivering the types of demanding services increasingly called for by business and wholesale customers, especially wireless operators. In addition to extremely high capacity Ethernet services, we’re able to satisfy the low latency requirements that are essential for competitive LTE backhaul offerings. These capabilities will allow us to deliver services to rural areas previously available only in more densely populated urban markets.”
