UK networking services company Vtesse will deploy the Tellabs 7100 Nano Optical Transport System nationally to support the expansion of its metro optical network in the UK, the systems house says. The system will improve Vtesse’s ability to deliver 10-Gbps services, Tellabs asserts.

“Vtesse’s ability to provide service and add capacity quickly and cost-effectively is essential to our customers, who expect us to meet their changing data communications needs in hours, not weeks” says Aidan Paul, chief executive of Vtesse. “Since we incorporated Tellabs’ equipment into our network, we’ve been able to win and deliver network contracts that would have been significantly more challenging using less flexible technology.”

Tellabs also will provide its Enterprise Partnership Program, a sales support and training package, to help Vtesse position its network capabilities more effectively to existing and potential enterprise customers.

“Enterprises are increasingly demanding reliable, high-bandwidth network services, and need a provider that can give them connectivity quickly and at competitive pricing,” said Tarcisio Ribeiro, vice president and general manager, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Tellabs. “Not every enterprise needs or wants to deploy multiple channels and have international connectivity from day one. It is essential that our operator customers can offer scalable services that start small, and quickly deliver the necessary bandwidth when needed by major enterprises like the financial institutions.”
