Having set a record for building connections in July, Integra Telecom Inc., says it set a new high-water mark in August. The provider of fiber-based business services says it funded 52 capital projects last month.

Of the 52 projects, 31 will be fiber network expansion into new buildings and 21 are capacity augments at existing on-net sites. In total, Integra say it now has more than 1,700 fiber-fed buildings and 5,000 miles of long-haul fiber at its disposal.

Integra offers such services as MEF Certified Ethernet, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and dedicated Internet access (DIA) at data rates from 5 Mbps to 10 Gbps.

"We continue to invest resources so that Integra can aggressively grow its fiber network and better help business customers achieve their communications goals," said Dan Stoll, vice president of business development at Integra Telecom. "By leveraging our existing build process and fiber expansion strategy our customers will have access to customizable, high-bandwidth, fiber-based solutions."

The projects are part of Integra's year-long, $52 million network expansion program. The recently added buildings are primarily located in the metropolitan areas of Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Phoenix, AZ; Boise, ID; Sacramento, CA; and Salt Lake City, UT.
