Highwave Optical Technologies to provide EDFAs to Korean metro DWDM equipment supplier LETEK

9 September 2003 Lannion, France Lightwave-- Highwave Optical Technologies today announced that LETEK, a Korean supplier of DWDM systems, will use its erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) technology. The EDFAs will be deployed in the highest capacity TACHYON OADM100G Metro DWDM platform commercialized by LETEK. The transaction is valued at a few hundred thousand (U.S.) dollars, according to the company.

Highwave will supply its intelligent generation of EDFAs featuring fast transient electronics capabilities, which allows traffic upgrades without disruption.

Anne-Marie Angelelli, vice president of sales, comments, "After China and Japan, this new contract with LETEK extends the presence of Highwave to the third Asian country most active in DWDM network deployments, a presence that Highwave intends to keep in the coming years through its amplification expertise."

Highwave Optical Technologies is a supplier of active fiber-based components and subsystems for DWDM systems, the fiber laser industry, and the fiber-optic sensor and defense markets.
