Singtel awards CIENA multi-year contract for multiservice access platform

18 November 2003 Linthicum, MD Lightwave-- CIENA announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract from Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) for its ONLINE Edge multiservice access platform.

"As our network needs evolve, we require carrier-class multiservice solutions that enable optimal bandwidth efficiency in the most cost-effective way," said Lim Toon, SingTel's chief operating officer. "CIENA's ONLINE Edge platform meets those needs for our emerging edge applications."

The ONLINE Edge platform delivers service transparency through intelligent CWDM technology and service aggregation. The compact and modular ONLINE Edge
platform is designed for service providers and enterprises that want to offer multiple high-bandwidth services over a single optical infrastructure. ONLINE Edge supports existing and emerging service provider offerings, such as broadband, storage and wavelength services.
