Transmode Systems signs Walker and Associates as US reseller

29 January 2003 -- Stockholm-based Transmode Systems says its CWDM systems are to be marketed, re-sold and supported throughout the USA by US telecoms equipment distributor and services provider Walker and Associates Inc.

29 January 2003 -- Stockholm-based Transmode Systems AB has entered into an agreement for its coarse wave division multiplexing (CWDM) optical systems to be marketed, re-sold and supported throughout the USA by Walker and Associates Inc, a US telecoms equipment distributor and services provider based in Welcome, North Carolina.

Transmode has been shipping CWDM systems since March 2001. "The growing popularity of CWDM is based on deployment costs in the metro markets and the evolving efficiencies with the technology," says Hal Sveum, vice president and general manager for Walker & Associates Inc. "Customers are telling Walker that the dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) solutions they are evaluating for deployment are cost-prohibitive and they are looking for more cost-effective ways to achieve their bandwidth requirements. DWDM is the embedded technology, but if utilising CWDM can reduce the cost per channel to one third without sacrificing performance then CWDM will continue to win over customers and take market share."

"This is the natural next step for Transmode as we continue to penetrate the US market", says CEO Isaac Olasoko. "Ever since Stealth Communications placed their first order with us in late 2001, we have seen rapidly growing interest from the US."
Transmode's CWDM equipment can be seen in Walker and Associates' booth at the COMNET 2003 exhibition in Washington DC, 28-30 January.
