19 August 2003 Stockholm -- Lumentis, a provider of metropolitan and regional optical connectivity solutions, has announced its successful completion of NEBS level 1 compliance testing.

The Network Equipment Building Standards (NEBS) Level 1 certification, specified by Telcordia Technologies, is one that many service providers and carriers in the US require from their equipment suppliers.

Pär Johanson, Director of Marketing and Sales at Lumentis, says, "Achieving this certification is a logical step for us to increase sales and create partnerships for the US market. NEBS compliance is also generally seen as a quality stamp among enterprise customers."

The Mentis all-in-one transport system shares the same card cage, same fibre pair, and network management platform for both CWDM and DWDM. The need for amplifiers in metropolitan applications has been eliminated without sacrificing scalability. This reduces equipment and operational costs, remove overhead costs and drastically simplifies network growth plans.

"A network operator is not forced into a choice between low-cost and less scalable CWDM or a higher cost and highly scalable DWDM network", says Ulf Persson, Director of system and network design. "We can mix CWDM and DWDM transmission on the same fiber link and each deployed connection will always have the best price-performance."
