19 March 2003 -- Teem Photonics, Grenoble, France, has introduced a new splitter array series that will enable system integrators to increase space savings in network system designs.

Planar Splitters are used to split or combine optical power in optical fibre networks and systems. By having multiple configurations of planar splitters in one convenient, compact package, system designers significantly cut back on the quantity of discrete splitters deployed, gaining more network system space.

"These new products are 10 times smaller than industry standard fused coupler solutions," says Piero Bruno, PLM passive products. "They demonstrate Teem's continued ability to integrate as many functions as possible into a small footprint, cost-effectively".

The Splitter Array Series feature 8x(1x2), 16x(1x2), 4x(1x8), 8x(1x4), 2x(1x16) and other configurations and measure 70x13x5.6mm. All configurations yield very low insertion loss, low return loss and meet broadband specifications.

Designed for use in high density modules for CATV (cable television), FTTx-PON (Fibre-to-the-Home and Passive Optical Networks), as well as DWDM systems, the Splitter Array Series extends Teem's current line of optical passive products, giving system integrators more component choice.

They are manufactured using Teem Photonics' proprietary platform technology and comply to industry standards, Telcordia GR-1209 and GR-1221, for reliability and performance.

Teem Photonics will be displaying the Splitter Array Series at OFC 2003, 25-27 March, on booth #2130.
