May 6, 2002--ARRIS Group Inc. (www.arrisi.com), announced its newest addition to the Laser Link family. The Laser Link IPerion Optical Node is a fiber-deep, high-performance node designed for networks that support IP applications including advanced solutions such as tiered data services and telephony.
The Laser Link IPerion Optical Node is a compact, light-weight, cost-effective fiber-deep node platform for cable operators that require 500 homes passed or fewer. IPerion enables operators to reduce operating costs by pushing fiber deeper into their networks.
IPerion's high RF output capability, coupled with increased distortion performance, allow customers to extend the network reach of current architectures without adding additional active equipment, thus reducing overall operating and maintenance costs. Operators can scale their optical networks to support IP tiered data services and new subscriber growth as well, says the company.
IPerion features a modular design with space for six optical or RF modules and one transponder in the lid. A partitioned RF module provides "superior isolation" through the casting design in the lid. This modular design reduces the operator's installation and maintenance costs even as their network size and services increase, according to ARRIS.
IPerion's configurability offers single, redundant or split band forward receiver options for targeted downstream applications and single, redundant or segmented return transmitter options allowing an operator to transmit 2 times more data from each node on the return path than non-segmentable nodes.
IPerion offers a seizure capture mechanism that decreases installation time and labor, as technicians do not have to remove the amplifier to install the housing. Additionally, an external stinger access allows operators to install/re-install the node without opening the housing. Other features include a 44-95 V AC auto-ranging power supply, 15-amp power passing capability, and a 100 W housing for optimal thermal performance.
