Ciena’s 8180 Coherent Networking Platform was designed to elevate the experience of cable operator end-customers by bringing capacity closer to the edge with an open/easy-to-operate coherent networking platform. Its density, scale, and capacity enable dramatic space reduction – driving down energy, switching, and transport costs while increasing the service providers’ competitive differentiation. The 8180 enables operators to realize significant cost/bit, operational, and energy savings by combining normally separate packet and optical devices in to a single ultra-dense platform.
