May 4, 2005 Dallas, TX -- Alcatel's 1692 Metro Span Edge CWDM platform has successfully completed the Telcordia OSMINE services process, for use with the Telcordia TIRKS system.
According to a press release, the OSMINE process helps ensure integration of new products and operating systems into multi-vendor environments, allowing service providers to realize enhanced operational benefits through closely coupled network element/OSS integration, enhanced inventory, provisioning and monitoring services, and the reduction of manual network interventions. Designed to provide Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) with a single, integrated operational environment, Telcordia TIRKS supports inventory record-keeping and provisioning systems for inter-office trunk facilities. According to the release, close to 80% of service providers in the United States use Telcordia software platforms to manage their operations and provide advanced services to their customers.
"By rapidly completing this process, Alcatel's 1692 Metro Span Edge has proven itself ready for integration into a wide variety of service provider applications and solutions," remarks Dennis Tinley, senior vice president of Telcordia's operations and network solutions division.
