December 2, 2005 Calabasas Hills, CA -- Rostelecom, Russia's national telecommunications operator, has placed a major order with Lynx Photonic Networks. Under terms of a sales agreement, in the event of link failures, Lynx will provide Rostelecom with guaranteed protection of the operator's critical DWDM backbone, to ensure fast network recovery time.
Before signing the agreement, which includes initial purchase and on-site support, Rostelecom conducted extensive testing of the Lynx systems. The operator says the successful results led to its purchasing multiple units for deployment in its long-distance network, and to official Russian certification for the Lynx product.
"We are proud to provide Rostelecom with Lynx's cost-effective and advanced add-on solutions to enhance their network availability," comments Lynx CEO Daniel Tal. "This contract illustrates the increasing demand for optical protection systems and the strengthening of Lynx's market leadership in this field"
Lynx offers an extensive line of photonic switching platforms and subsystems, including its LightLEADERT family of compact plug-and-play communications systems, for protection switching and other applications.
