Zayo Group’s expands near-net to thousands of businesses across western Europe
The fiber network infrastructure company Zayo Group announced on Jan. 9 that it will be extending access to 100G connectivity to thousands of businesses throughout Europe thanks to its near-net expansion, quickly and easily connecting organizations in close proximity to its fiber infrastructure.
This development will enhance connectivity options for businesses across the Netherlands, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Ireland and provide high-speed network solutions that meet evolving IT infrastructure needs.
Zayo currently provides near-net connectivity to around 7,000 buildings across eight European markets, with expansions planned in London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Berlin, Dublin, and various French markets throughout 2024. Its network spans over 17 million fiber miles and 142,000 route miles, benefiting carriers, cloud providers, data centers, schools, and enterprises.
Michael Katz, Zayo Group’s vice president of products and technology, said in a press release, “Too many businesses rely on incumbent broadband services, which can significantly hinder performance and productivity. Our near-net expansion leaves this issue in the past for thousands more businesses throughout Europe. We will bring our suite of connectivity services to the front door for companies that have previously struggled with unreliable connectivity options, streamlining the process and creating an environment where they can easily adopt cloud systems and innovative technologies to help their businesses thrive. Zayo designs, builds, and delivers the highest quality, low-latency networks to markets throughout Europe, and this is just another step forward in our continued expansion plans.”
In the same press release, global analyst firm Omdia’s research director, Ian Redpath, said, “74% of enterprises need a 100G connection to support their own private and multiple public cloud data centers. Zayo’s near-net expansion extends fiber infrastructure directly into many more client sites, enabling 100Gbps high capacity, low latency, arterial connectivity required to support today’s modern, cloud-centric, IT infrastructure.”
