ADVA launches ConnectGuard Cloud for virtualized encryption in hybrid and multi-cloud environments

ADVA says it has launched ConnectGuard Cloud, which the company maintains is the first security offering to provide virtualized encryption in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The software offers an alternative to service providers and enterprises that want to move away from IPSec-focused appliance-based approaches, the company asserts.

ConnectGuard Cloud leverages ADVA's Ensemble Connector to enable what the company describes as "military-grade encryption" via deployment in a public cloud infrastructure or on any COTS server. With the help of Ensemble Connector, ADVA says that uCPE can be deployed with zero-touch provisioning capabilities, enabling customers to roll out secure cloud connectivity to thousands of endpoints in a few minutes (see "ADVA Ensemble upgrades NFV platform, reveals Verizon as customer").

With a growing number of enterprises migrating their applications to both private and public clouds, data protection is essential, says ADVA. Customized for this task, ConnectGuard Cloud is powered by Senetas' transport-independent encryption engine that supports dynamic software encryption at multiple layers so customers can apply encryption based on application requirements and the networking type available at remote sites. ConnectGuard Cloud's encryption is standards compliant and supports end-to-end encryption and tunneling.

According to ADVA, the technology is already in several trials with enterprises and service providers worldwide. ConnectGuard Cloud is an extension of the company's ConnectGuard encryption platform for optical transport networks (see "ADVA Optical Networking ConnectGuard tackles optical, Ethernet security").
