ADVA Optical Networking says 10 companies have joined its network functions virtualization (NFV) Ensemble Harmony Ecosystem. The group aims to provide communications services providers interested in leveraging ADVA's Ensemble software-defined networking/network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV) platform with access to a variety of NFV service and technology sources, including virtual network function (VNF) providers, technology partners, and solution integrators.

ADVA Optical Networking says 10 companies have joined its network functions virtualization (NFV) Ensemble Harmony Ecosystem. The group aims to provide communications services providers interested in leveraging ADVA's Ensemble software-defined networking/network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV) platform with access to a variety of NFV service and technology sources, including virtual network function (VNF) providers, technology partners, and solution integrators.

The latest Ensemble Harmony Ecosystem members include Advantech, ASTRI, Check Point Software Technologies, Introspective Networks, LightRiver Technologies, Mirantis, Riverbed Technology, Versa Networks, and Walker and Associates. ADVA says more than 30 partners are now part of the ecosystem and provide 14 categories of VNFs.

Masergy and DartPoints are two operators who have deployed Ensemble technology, which leverages assets ADVA acquired from Overture Networks (see "ADVA strengthens Carrier Ethernet, NFV hand with Overture Networks acquisition"). Others are actively engaged, ADVA says.

"We know that today's customers expect cooperation between vendors. They demand solutions that enable them to combine the most advanced and best-of-breed components from various suppliers. That's why we've created an environment where the industry's leading companies can collaborate to deliver even more value to customers and take NFV to the next level," asserted Brian Irish, director, marketing, Ensemble Division at ADVA Optical Networking. "They can now choose from a wide variety of virtualized functions and effortlessly realize the full promise of NFV."
