ECI adds Lambda on Demand to LightCONNECT SDN app

ECI says it has added a "Lambda on Demand" capability to its LightCONNECT bandwidth on demand app. LightCONNECT is part of the company's LightAPPS software-defined networking/network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV) initiative.

ECI says it has added a "Lambda on Demand" capability to its LightCONNECT bandwidth on demand app. LightCONNECT is part of the company's LightAPPS software-defined networking/network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV) initiative (see "ECI Telecom unveils first LightApps for transport SDN").

ECI's LightCONNECT app is designed to provide OTN bandwidth on demand for dynamic services and bursty applications. The new capability meshes with optical networks built with systems such as ECI's Apollo platform by allocating the necessary number of wavelengths at the designated time.

"At ECI, it's all about providing services that can be customized to afford networks the flexibility to respond to real-time needs easily, seamlessly, and cost effectively. LightCONNECT's bandwidth on demand, and now lambda on demand, can make the difference between weeks and minutes in terms of turn up time," said Gali Malkiel, head of applications and software line of business at ECI.
