Young cloud network switch and technology supplier Plexxi says it has added GV (formerly Google Ventures) to its roster of investors. GV joins Lightspeed Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, and North Bridge Venture Partners as investors in the Nashua, NH based company.
Plexxi did not reveal how much GV has invested.
Plexxi focuses on hardware and software for application-focused cloud networks in a software-defined networking (SDN) context. In addition to photonic-based switches, the company offers Plexxi Control software and the Plexxi Connect platform for workflow, workload, and infrastructure integration. Taken together, the product ecosystem is designed to enable changes in the fabric topology in real time to improve traffic forwarding efficiency and deliver the required network capacity on demand (see "Calient, Plexxi bring SDN to large-scale data center networks").
"Plexxi takes an innovative approach to high-performance networking infrastructure," commented Rich Miner, general partner at GV. "Plexxi's platform has evolved at a rapid pace, and the company's networking infrastructure products give companies the tools they need to maintain large scale networks that are more agile and efficient."
