Ekinops combines network access, optical transport software under Compose brand

March 24, 2020
The brand will focus on the delivery of software-defined networking (SDN) tools, with SD-WAN Xpress as the first new product with the branding.

Ekinops (Euronext Paris - FR0011466069 – EKI) says it has combined its network access and optical transport software products under the Compose brand. The brand will focus on the delivery of software-defined networking (SDN) tools, with SD-WAN Xpress as the first new product with the branding.

The Compose suite will include virtualization functions and SD-WAN offerings that are compatible with an Ekinops-certified ecosystem of more than 30 third-party virtual network functions (VNFs). The portfolio also includes the software elements of the company's Ekinops 360 optical transport and OneAccess network access platforms. The Compose line leverages the company’s OneOS6 modular software platform. OneOS6 is designed to enable a range of open, built-in software services that can be activated remotely and on-demand.

The first new product under the Compose umbrellas is SD-WAN Xpress, which the company describes as “the first SD-WAN solution directly extended from a market-proven routing function.” SD-WAN Xpress enables a multi-tier, multi-tenant, one-box approach and is applicable to any OneOS6-enabled hardware platform. The new SD-WAN tool simplifies SD-WAN enablement at a lower cost than competing alternatives, Ekinops asserts.

"This is an important strategic move for Ekinops," comments Didier Brédy, CEO at Ekinops. "To support enterprise digital transformation, networks are becoming increasingly software defined. Compose is our answer. Our software offering helps service providers supplement their connectivity portfolio with new value-added services such as SD-WAN, security, and quality of service. All, of course, tightly integrated with our connectivity products.

"Our Compose line stands on three pillars which, in a way, define Ekinops: simplicity, openness, and affordability. Our approach enables our customers to stay in control of their migration to the software-defined world, while ensuring continued support for their vital legacy products and services," Brédy added.
