Niki studied Engineering Physics and worked as a SW programmer in the public sector. After moving into industry, he worked for a manufacturer of fiber optic connectors, systems and splicing devices. As an application engineer, he supported the development of products for customers from various industries. Activities included up-skilling of technicians migrating from copper to fiber. The practical experience supported him on his way into product management, where he took on the role of PLM for FTTx solutions. Niki joined VIAVI as Product Manager for Essential Fiber Optic Test Tools with a focus on growth areas such as Next Gen PON and Test Process Automation.

Lead Technologist, Chief Technology Office, Fixed Networks Division
Nokia
Since the 1990s Ed has worked in PON development and standardization. He currently supports the Nokia CTO for Fixed Networks with a focus on high speed PON and bandwidth demand forecasting. In 2021 he became a Bell Labs Fellow.
