Rob Marsland

Senior Manager

Rob Marsland is a Senior Manager at Tektronix, Inc. He received his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1990 after completing a thesis on novel optical and electrical methods for high-speed waveform measurement and generation. He was one of the four founders of New Focus, Inc. that summer and later became Vice President of Focused Research, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of New Focus. New Focus was listed on the NASDAQ in May 2000. Once the telecom sector began to rebound in 2007, he started Optametra, LLC to provide test equipment to companies beginning to research and deploy new long-haul telecom transceivers based on complex optical modulation. Optametra was purchased by Tektronix, Inc., in July 2011. Rob was named a Tektronix Fellow in 2012. He is the Tektronix representative to the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) and is a member of the OSA and IEEE.
