Townsend Group, a global advisor and partner to institutional investors, has invested strategically in CleanArc Data Centers, a developer and operator of renewables-focused hyperscale data center campuses.
Led by Townsend, who advises a consortium of global investors, this new partnership further supports CleanArc's growth initiatives as it continues developing its first data center campus in Virginia. The campus is set to deliver 300 MW of capacity by the first quarter of 2027.
A big part of this drive is its commitment to renewable energy.
In 2023, CleanArc launched an RFP seeking proposals from renewable energy developers to support its hyperscale data center campuses under development. The company received 3 GW worth of proposals from more than 40 companies, and is finalizing agreements with various groups.
Townsend joins Snowhawk, which will remain the majority stakeholder in CleanArc as the company continues solidifying partnerships with hyperscale customers and expanding infrastructure in key markets.
James Trout, Founder and CEO of CleanArc, said Townsend’s "capital markets expertise, institutional knowledge, and private real assets scale will be instrumental as we execute on our mission to develop the data centers of the future, particularly our inaugural campus in Virginia, VA1.”
He added, "With Snowhawk's ongoing investment leadership, we're well-equipped to continue tackling the growing data center challenges that hyperscalers face."
