Technology veteran Mike Berry joins Calix’s board
Calix has nominated former NetApp CEO Mike Berry to its board of directors. Highly regarded as an industry finance veteran, Berry can provide valuable counsel as Calix continues transforming the broadband industry with its innovation portfolio. With over 30 years of experience, Berry has been the CFO at several leading technology companies, including NetApp, McAfee, FireEye, Informatica, IO, SolarWinds and i2 Technologies. Additionally, current Calix board member Ellie Fields has announced that she will not stand for reelection to the Calix board as she plans to devote more time to building an AI startup.
Comcast taps Gieselman to lead Comcast’s residential US businesses
Comcast has named Jon Gieselman in a newly created role as Chief Growth Officer for the residential domestic businesses of its Connectivity & Platforms segment that reaches more than 64 million homes and businesses in the U.S. Gieselman will lead the teams responsible for Comcast’s domestic residential companies, including product and the Xfinity brand strategy across connectivity, wireless and entertainment as well as sales, marketing, acquisition, retention and base management. He will report to Steve Croney, recently named Chief Operating Officer of Comcast’s Connectivity & Platforms division. Gieselman, who steps into the role on April 28th, led marketing, sales and consumer engagement at major tech and media companies, including Expedia Group, Apple and DIRECTV.
DC BLOX names Carender as its COO
DC BLOX has named Greg Carender as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), with Mark Masi moving into the role of Chief Development Officer. Carender brings extensive global experience in hyperscale data center development, operations, and green energy infrastructure. Carender joins DC BLOX from AdaniConneX, a joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX, where he served as COO. In this role, he led the development and operations of hundreds of megawatts (MW) of master-planned data center capacity across India while overseeing a team of 300+ professionals across engineering, construction, safety, procurement, and operations.
Before AdaniConneX, Carender spent 20 years in construction management, consulting, and development, including at PwC, where he led major capital projects across commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and nuclear facilities. He joined EdgeConneX in 2016 and was pivotal in deploying Hyperscale campuses across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia. In conjunction with Carender’s appointment, DC BLOX also announced that Mark Masi will transition into Chief Development Officer (CDO), focusing on land acquisition, tax incentives, energy procurement, and strategic partnerships.
Logix Fiber Networks taps former Cogent, T-Mobile exec O'Connor to be new CEO
Logix Fiber Networks has named Greg O'Connor as CEO. A seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience across wireless and wireline operations, O'Connor joins the company at a pivotal time of expansion, following its recently completed recapitalization and new investment to fuel growth across Texas. O'Connor brings a unique blend of operational leadership and infrastructure expertise, having held senior roles at T-Mobile, Sprint, and Cogent Communications. Most recently, he served as COO at Cogent, overseeing global operations and leading the integration of T-Mobile's Wireline division following its acquisition. His appointment comes after Logix recently completed a strategic investment led by UBS O'Connor Capital Solutions and a successful recapitalization that reduced the company's debt by over $150 million and added $45 million in new capital.
Spectrum Business assigns Fulton to lead customer operations and experience
Spectrum has promoted Chris Fulton to Senior Vice President, Customer Operations and Experience for Spectrum Business. Fulton succeeds Greg King, who is retiring after 30 years in the industry. A 25-year industry veteran who since early last year has served as Regional Vice President of Field Operations for Spectrum’s Northwest Region, Fulton will be responsible for technical support, customer service, service delivery and billing for Spectrum Business customers across the Company’s 41-state operating footprint. He will begin his new role immediately and be based in Stamford.
As Spectrum’s field operations leader in the Northwest, Fulton headed a 1,700-employee team serving customers in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, and Central and Northern California. From 2017 to 2024, Fulton served as Group Vice President, Call Center Operations, overseeing customer service across 18 technical support call centers, and for four years before that, he held successive field operations leadership roles with the company. He joined Spectrum in 2013 after 15 years at Cablevision, where he worked in a series of field operations and customer service leadership positions across multiple markets. Fulton holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Metropolitan State University in Denver.
Surf Internet recruits AT&T veteran Weeks to lead operations
Surf Internet has named AT&T veteran Todd Weeks its new Vice President of Field Operations. Weeks will oversee Surf’s service repair and new customer installation operations in this newly created leadership role. Weeks brings nearly 30 years of experience in telecommunications and field operations, having served in a wide range of leadership roles at AT&T since 1998. Most recently, he was Lead Data Analyst for AT&T’s East regional staff, supporting field operations across a 22-state footprint. During his tenure at AT&T, he led teams focused on outside plant engineering, capital fiber builds, field service management, performance reporting, and process improvement. As VP of Field Operations, Weeks will play a pivotal role in advancing Surf’s mission to bring fiber internet to unserved and underserved communities across the Midwest. His focus will include improving installation and service response times, implementing operational best practices, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new customers.
