Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs, has taken charge of its wireless network capability by expanding its relationship with DAS Group Professionals (DGP), a key component of AFL Wireless Services.
As with other sports franchises, DGP delivers wireless connectivity, enhances the fan experience, and ensures seamless mobile coverage for all events, from Cubs games to concerts.
This partnership expands DGP’s growing presence in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a wireless solutions provider to sports and entertainment venues.
DGP’s venue-owned DAS model delivers a high-performance wireless network at Wrigley Field, tailored to meet the needs of the venue, its guests and carrier partners.
One advantage of a venue-owned model is that an owner does not have to be locked into long-term contracts with a wireless operator. Instead, they can retain control over the DAS design and implementation by working with various entities, including OEMs and integrators like DGP.
Steve Inman, Cubs' Vice President of Technology, said that since it became “the first MLB venue to own the DAS network, we have entrusted DGP to be our exclusive DAS partner, enhancing and evolving the network with every upgrade.”
As part of its expanding footprint in professional baseball, DGP, AFL, and its parent company Fujikura are also supporting the MLB Tokyo Series presented by Guggenheim in March, where the Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers will showcase their talent on an international stage.
