PacketLight and Fujitsu Optical Components have successfully transported a mix of 100 GbE and 400 GbE data services over the 800 G wavelength using PacketLight’s PL-8000M 2x800G Muxponder and Fujitsu Optical Components’ 800G CFP2-DCO pluggable module.
As the first device in PacketLight’s 800G product family, the PL-8000M is ideal for carrier infrastructure, DCI connectivity, cloud providers, high-end enterprises, research/education campuses, and high-bandwidth AI connectivity infrastructure.
With a total capacity of 1.6 Tbps in a 1U chassis, the PL-800M is a modular solution for rolling out 400 GbE and 100 GbE services or increasing network capacity. Like other PacketLight equipment, it is ideal for building pay-as-you-grow architecture.
PacketLight said the CFP2-DCO module was the right fit to achieve the 800G transmission due to its high performance, reliability, and compatibility with PacketLight’s Layer-1 encryption solution, which ensures the secure transport of encrypted 100/400/800 GbE services.
PacketLight will formally introduce and conduct a live demo of the PL-8000M Muxponder, which is a Lightwave+BTR 2025 Innovation Awards honoree, at the 2025 OFC Conference in April (booth 3232).
