Ezee Fiber’s Conterra asset acquisition fuels $250M New Mexico investment plan

Dec. 12, 2024
The acquisition enables it to address the demand for high-speed fiber internet service more effectively.

Ezee Fiber has completed its acquisition of Conterra Networks’ New Mexico fiber assets, building a foundation for expanding its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service throughout the state.

This acquisition includes 128 miles of high-quality, installed fiber infrastructure in Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Neither Ezee Fiber nor Conterra disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition.

"The acquisition enables us to significantly accelerate our Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network deployment in New Mexico, addressing the large and growing consumer demand for high-speed fiber internet service from local, customer-first companies like Ezee Fiber," said Matt Marino, CEO of Ezee Fiber.

New Mexico expansion

Earlier this year, Ezee Fiber revealed its plans to expand its fiber network into Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ezee said its investments in New Mexico will exceed $250 million.

The network builds are creating new economic benefits for the community, in addition to providing a local provider of fiber-based broadband.

As a result of its fiber expansion plans, the provider has created over 350 employment opportunities for construction personnel, installation technicians, and sales, marketing, and community engagement associates.

New markets ahead

New Mexico appears to be just one stop on Ezee’s fiber expansion path.

While he did not specify any specific targets, Marino said that Ezee Fiber plans further expansions into additional states across the United States in 2025 and beyond.

Last November, the Houston-based company announced plans to invest $200 million in the continued expansion of its fiber network in Fort Bend County.
