Fidium Fiber, Greenlight Networks, RightFiber, TDS and Vexus Fiber are using various funding sources to extend broadband to more communities.

Fidium Fiber expansion gets underway in Windham, Maine
Fidium Fiber is expanding its fiber internet network in Windham and parts of Gorham and Standish, Maine, bringing multi-gig speed service to more than 9,600 homes and businesses in the communities. Fiber infrastructure is now underway, with exact start dates varying by location. With Fidium expansion underway in Westbrook, more than 18,000 Cumberland County homes and businesses will soon have access to future-proof connectivity from Fidium Fiber. Today, over 270,000 Maine homes and businesses have access to Fidium, with additional availability coming soon across the state.

Greenlight starts accepting orders for FTTH service in Niagra Falls
Greenlight Networks is advancing its fiber broadband expansion efforts across Western New York with a construction project to bring service to Niagara Falls. By the spring, this expansion will bring Greenlight’s internet to over 6,000 residents and businesses. The company has enlisted the help of local contractors to aid with the network build-out. Greenlight has already begun construction in neighborhoods between Niagara Falls Blvd and LaSalle Expressway and anticipates customers will receive service by the end of the year. Preliminary pole work will also be kicking off east of Niagara Falls expressway in the coming weeks, with multiple neighborhoods in the southeast of the city on the docket for 2025.

RightFiber lights fiber internet in Paducah, Kentucky
Paducah, Kentucky, businesses and residents will soon experience a significant internet upgrade with RightFiber, which will deliver multi-gig speeds to them.

RightFiber’s advanced network expansion—a $13 million investment, is expected to be complete by summer 2025.

TDS completes Potosi, Wis. FTTH build
Potosi, Wisconsin, is the latest city that TDS Telecom has brought onto its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network, enabling homes to get 8 Gbps internet speeds. In October 2021, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission awarded TDS a Wisconsin Broadband Access Grant to help fund fiber connections. The original project plans called for TDS to install infrastructure to deliver up to 1 Gbps internet, but the Madison-based company installed upgraded technology to bring faster speeds. Internet options of up to 8 Gbps are available for residents and businesses, and commercial customers can also choose dedicated connections of up to 10 Gbps. This project is partly supported by federal award 416821, which the U.S. Department of Treasury awarded to Farmer’s Telephone Company DBA TDS Telecommunications. These federal funds were made available through the American Rescue Plan Act and the State of Wisconsin, acting by and through the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

Vexus Fiber designates Alexandria, La., a certified gigabit city
